Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft and UBS Group AG reported strong second-quarter 2026 financial results, with both institutions mirroring the profitability seen in top-tier Wall Street investment banks. The banks benefited from increased trading volatility and a higher-for-longer interest rate environment.
Deutsche Bank achieved a record post-tax profit of €1.9 billion. This growth was led by a 59% year-over-year increase in investment banking pre-tax profit, which reached €1.3 billion. The bank recorded an 11.9% return on tangible equity as it moves toward its 2028 financial goals.
UBS Group AG reported a pre-tax profit of $3.6 billion, with underlying pre-tax profit rising 47% year-over-year to $3.9 billion. The firm's wealth management division attracted $36 billion in net new assets. Additionally, UBS realized $1.1 billion in run-rate cost savings from its integration of Credit Suisse, bringing its total gross cost reductions to $12.6 billion.
