NDC Grants Peter Obi Authority to Nominate Campaign Council

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has granted its 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the authority to nominate key members of the party's Presidential Campaign Council. The duo will select the Director-General, campaign spokespersons, and finance directors in consultation with party leadership to maintain cohesion and inclusiveness.

The inauguration of the council, which was delayed from early September due to Obi's travel schedule, will proceed once the candidates provide their nominations. In a parallel effort to prepare for the elections, the party directed state and local government chairmen to collate lists of party agents for national and state elections within two weeks for ratification by leadership and the candidates.

Party officials emphasized that the primary objective is defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress. The NDC urged its candidates to avoid internal conflicts and maintain focus on the general election.
