The China Coast Guard conducted law enforcement patrols in the waters near Kinmen on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. According to Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the China Coast Guard Donghai Branch, the operations included formation navigation, identification and verification checks, hailing, and radio warnings designed to strengthen control of key waters.

Officials stated the patrols aim to ensure maritime order and protect the lives and property of fishermen. Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed firm support for the action, describing the measures as reasonable and lawful for maintaining operational order in the Taiwan Strait.

In defending the legality of the patrols, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office asserted that Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are all parts of China.
