Federal Agents Raid Ilhan Omar's Home Amid Multiple Probes

Federal investigators searched Representative Ilhan Omar's Washington home as part of separate criminal probes into her immigration history and financial disclosures.

Federal agents raided the Washington, D.C., home of Ilhan Omar on Monday as part of two separate criminal investigations. The United States Department of Justice confirmed the search was judicially authorized and conducted by agents from the United States Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

One probe examines possible fraud and false statements in immigration paperwork, specifically whether Omar or her late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, provided false information to secure legal status and citizenship. Investigators have issued subpoenas to Omar's sister, Sahra Noor, and other family members. The investigation also considers a 2019 request by Omar's staff to change her listed birth year from 1981 to 1982 in the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library.

Simultaneously, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced an investigation into Omar's financial disclosures. The probe focuses on businesses tied to Omar's husband, Tim Mynett, which saw a reported value increase from a maximum of $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024.

Omar denied any wrongdoing and characterized the actions as an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement against political enemies. President Donald Trump criticized the financial filings, while Vice President JD Vance stated that the administration would follow the facts if a real case exists.
