Sudan Accuses Ethiopia of Hosting RSF Drone Attacks
The Government of Sudan accuses Ethiopia of hosting launch platforms for over 160 drone attacks targeting vital infrastructure and killing hundreds of people.
The Government of Sudan has accused Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used as a launchpad for drone attacks conducted by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Sudanese officials claim that 162 drone strikes have been launched from Ethiopian sites, specifically Bahir Dar airport in the Amhara region and Assosa, resulting in the deaths of over 400 civilians and 102 military personnel.
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Muawiya Osman Khalid presented drone fragments and flight-path data on October 28, 2026, identifying targets that included fuel storage, a pipeline at Bashayer Port, and electricity stations across Khartoum, Al-Jazira, Sennar, and Al-Qadarif. Subsequent reports expanded the list of targets to include hospitals and schools in states such as El Obeid. Sudanese officials noted the use of Turkish Bayraktar and Chinese-made drones in these operations.
Defence Minister Hassan Daoud Kabroun alleged that more than 20 countries are providing the RSF with financial and logistical support. While some reports indicate the Ethiopian government has denied the allegations and affirmed its respect for Sudanese sovereignty, other sources state Ethiopia has not yet commented on these specific new claims. Khalid described the situation as a dangerous development and asserted that Sudan reserves the right to defend its security by all legitimate means.
