Air China Launches Direct Beijing-Bucharest-Zagreb Flight Route

Air China will launch a direct air route connecting Beijing, Bucharest, and Zagreb starting September 4, 2026. The service will operate three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, eliminating stopovers and reducing travel times for passengers.

Air China established the route following an inauguration ceremony in Beijing hosted by the Embassy of Romania in partnership with the Embassy of Croatia. The event was attended by representatives from the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. This development marks the return of direct connectivity between the capitals of Romania and China, a link first established by TAROM in 1974.

Romanian Ambassador Dan-Horia Maxim described the connectivity corridor as a "major diplomatic and economic success" intended to boost tourism, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. The initiative aims to position Bucharest as a hub with stronger links to major Asian centers to facilitate bilateral development.
