ICE Procures Millions in Weaponry and AI Tech for Hiring Surge

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement is procuring a significant amount of weaponry, armor, and surveillance technology to support a surge in agent hiring. This expansion follows mass deportation promises from the Trump administration, with the Department of Homeland Security reporting over 100,000 job applications as of August.

Procurement efforts include a $40 million armor contract modification and nearly $1.6 million for Glock handguns, the largest order of its kind to date for the agency. The agency also spent $3 million on gun sights and acquired AI-powered X10D drones from Skydio for surveillance and enforcement operations.

Beyond tactical gear, the agency is investing in administrative infrastructure. These expenditures include $450,000 for legal team laptops and a record $24 million order for Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure.
