Protesters Demand Doral End Immigration Enforcement Pact with ICE

Democratic leaders, activists, and community members gathered outside Doral City Hall on September 22, 2026, to demand the city terminate its 287(g) agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The agreement, authorized by a unanimous Doral City Council vote in April 2025, allows local police to perform specific federal immigration enforcement functions.

Opponents highlighted the economic impact of the agreement, with local business owners reporting revenue drops between 40% and 70% as residents avoid public spaces. To support families affected by detentions, activist Carlos Eduardo Espina contributed $50,000 to an emergency fund administered by LULAC.
