Costco Abruptly Shuts Down Costco Next Marketplace
Costco Wholesale Corporation terminated its Costco Next curated marketplace on August 31 without prior notice to members or partner brands.
Costco Wholesale Corporation shut down its digital-only curated marketplace, Costco Next, on August 31, 2026. The company terminated the service without prior announcement to its members or the third-party partner brands involved in the program.
Launched in 2017, the marketplace allowed members to purchase discounted items from vendors such as Anker, Jacuzzi, Viking cookware, Paragon Outdoor, Briggs & Riley, and Gorilla sheds. These products were shipped directly from suppliers rather than being stocked in Costco warehouses. Following the closure, the company disabled the service link in its mobile app and updated its website to state that access to store fronts is no longer available.
The shutdown comes despite recent indicators of success. CFO Gary Millerchip had previously reported healthy year-over-year growth, noting that sales for the program in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 equaled the total sales for the entire 2022 fiscal year.
Costco has also altered its post-purchase support for the program. While the company previously covered returns for Costco Next products, it now requires customers to resolve returns, warranty inquiries, or satisfaction issues directly with the third-party vendors.
