Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation on August 29, 2026, to coordinate diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
The two officials focused on enhancing regional security and stability, identifying the freedom of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as a critical prerequisite for a lasting peace and a comprehensive agreement. They discussed specific ways to ensure the corridor remains open and secure.
Beyond regional security, the leaders reviewed methods to bolster the existing bilateral relationship between the Government of Qatar and the Government of Turkiye.
