Renaissance Capital Lowers Minimum Investment for Dangote IPO
Renaissance Capital reduced the minimum investment for Kenyan investors in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO to encourage wider retail participation.
The Renaissance Capital investment bank reduced the minimum investment for Kenyan investors participating in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals initial public offering (IPO) from Sh107,000 to Sh535. This revision, approved by the Capital Markets Authority, lowered the minimum subscription from 2,000 Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) to 10, with each receipt priced at Sh53.50.
The adjustment aligns the Kenyan entry threshold with the Nigerian IPO to encourage wider retail investor participation following high market demand and investor feedback. The offer, which involves up to 728.97 million GDRs, opened on October 6 and closed at 5 p.m. on October 13, 2026.
Kenyan investors accessed the offering through various channels, including broker arrangements within Nigeria and GDRs intended for listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
