Sweden Aims to Double Economic Exchange With India by 2030
Swedish Ambassador Petra Menander announced a goal to double bilateral economic exchange with India by 2030, focusing on technology, AI, and green energy.
Petra Menander, the Swedish Ambassador to India, announced a target to double the economic exchange between the two nations by 2030. Speaking in New Delhi on September 28, 2026, Menander identified several high-growth sectors for this expansion, including artificial intelligence, technology, healthcare, life sciences, mining, connectivity, and the green transition.
Menander noted that the recently concluded India-EU Free Trade Agreement will facilitate this growth by reducing tariffs and simplifying routines. She stated that these changes will create more opportunities for Swedish companies to invest in India and generate local employment.
Beyond commercial trade, the ambassador intends to expand political dialogue and partnerships in research and innovation. She also highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchanges, citing the increasing number of Indian professionals and students currently residing in Sweden.
