Cockroach Janta Party Demands Full Withdrawal of Protest FIRs

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) partially welcomed a July 30 notification from the Government of Delhi that halts further legal action on FIRs stemming from a 36-day agitation over NEET (UG) examination irregularities. While the order prevents adverse action against most protesters and mandates expedited reviews of arrests, it excludes individuals with criminal backgrounds. This follows a July 20 'Chalo Sansad' march that resulted in 13 FIRs and the identification of over 2,800 participants with criminal records.

Chief spokesperson Saurav Das argued that treating the cases as closed rather than formally withdrawing them violates the July 25 Jantar Mantar agreement. He accused the government of misrepresenting a Supreme Court of India order to avoid a full withdrawal and warned that failure to honor the agreement's spirit would force the younger generation back onto the streets.

Das also addressed allegations that some demonstrators used derogatory slogans during the protests. He argued that offensive language should be handled through civil or criminal defamation proceedings against individuals rather than state-led criminal prosecutions, which he claimed create a chilling effect on free expression. He urged the Delhi Police to remain calm and avoid using projectile weapons against citizens.
