IAF Chief Calls for Faster Modernization at 94th Anniversary

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh urged faster modernization of the Indian Air Force during the 94th Air Force Day celebrations.

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh called for an acceleration in the modernization and transformation of the Indian Air Force during the 94th Air Force Day celebrations. Speaking in New Delhi on October 7 and later at the Hindan air base in Ghaziabad on October 8, Singh stated that while the force is moving in the right direction, the pace of progress needs to be faster.

Singh detailed a strategic transition from a platform-centric to a capability-centric approach, noting that this integration was effective during Operation Sindoor. He identified procedural constraints and procurement delays as primary hurdles, specifically citing the LCA Mk-1A project. To address these issues, the IAF is coordinating with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to ensure a visible number of aircraft are delivered this financial year.

Operational progress includes the indigenization of over 76,000 parts through the Defence Research and Development Organisation, alongside advancements in air defense and unmanned systems. During the anniversary parade, Singh described the IAF as a network-centric, multi-domain force capable of protecting national interests. Singh is scheduled for superannuation on October 31 and will be succeeded by Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit.
