Democratic socialist Oliver Larkin is challenging two-term incumbent Jared Moskowitz in the Democratic primary for Florida's 25th congressional district. The vote is scheduled for August 18. Backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, Larkin is campaigning on a platform of universal healthcare, free public university tuition, and the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Moskowitz, who describes himself as a "DeSantis Democrat" and a pragmatist, has joined Donald Trump's department of government efficiency initiative. While Moskowitz maintains a fundraising advantage with nearly $3 million compared to Larkin's $1 million, recent polling indicates the race has shifted from a wide lead for the incumbent in June to a statistical tie.

The contest serves as a test for the Democratic Socialists of America to determine if their recent primary successes in other states can translate to a redrawn Florida district characterized by a diverse and older electorate.
