Sandisk Adopts Contract Model to Stabilize Memory Chip Revenue
Sandisk implemented a new business model using contract-based agreements to reduce revenue volatility following a 500 percent stock surge in 2026.
Sandisk implemented a New Business Model (NBM) to mitigate the cyclical volatility inherent in the NAND memory chip industry. The move follows a period of extreme growth in 2026, where data center build-outs drove a surge in storage demand that pushed the company's stock up nearly 500 percent, making it the second-best performer in the S&P 500.
The NBM transitions the company away from reliance on market price swings toward contract-based agreements with clients. These new contracts establish committed volumes along with price floors and ceilings to ensure more predictable cash flows. Despite this structural shift toward stability, the company's stock is currently valued at 6.3 times forward earnings.
