AT&T Signs $3 Billion Fiber Deal With Corning
AT&T signed a $3 billion agreement with Corning to expand fiber infrastructure to meet rising data demands from AI and cloud computing.
AT&T Inc. signed a multi-year agreement worth more than $3 billion with Corning to procure fiber and cable. The deal supports a broader infrastructure expansion designed to meet increasing data demands driven by connected devices, cloud computing, and AI workloads.
The company reports that the average fiber household now consumes over 1 terabyte of data monthly, which is a fivefold increase since 2016. To address this growth, AT&T aims to reach 60 million fiber locations by 2030.
This procurement follows AT&T's $5.75 billion acquisition of the fiber business from Lumen Technologies. As part of a larger strategy to improve connectivity infrastructure in the United States, the company has committed over $250 billion in investments over five years.
