Robinhood Adds $25 Million Bitcoin to Corporate Treasury
Robinhood purchased $25 million in Bitcoin for its corporate balance sheet to integrate traditional financial markets with blockchain products.
Robinhood purchased $25 million in Bitcoin for its corporate treasury, marking the first time the company has held the cryptocurrency directly on its balance sheet. Johann Kerbrat, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International, announced the investment on October 7 during the Digital Asset Summit and Token2049 event in Singapore.
This corporate holding is separate from the approximately $25 billion in cryptocurrency assets, including 185,000 BTC, that the platform maintains in custody for its users. The purchase follows previous statements from CEO Vladimir Tenev indicating that the company was considering such a move.
The investment is part of a broader corporate strategy to merge traditional financial markets with blockchain technology. This initiative includes the development of Robinhood Chain and the implementation of tokenized stock trading.
