Julius Baer Announces 600 Million Swiss Franc Share Buyback
Julius Baer will buy back up to 600 million Swiss francs of its own shares following the conclusion of a regulatory enforcement case.
Julius Baer announced on Friday that it will repurchase up to 600 million Swiss francs of its own shares over the next year. The program will be executed via a second trading line on the SIX Swiss Exchange and received approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority.
The buyback follows the conclusion of a long-running enforcement case by the regulator into the bank's anti-money-laundering controls, risk management, and losses tied to loans granted to the collapsed Signa Group. Chairman Noel Quinn stated that the bank has made progress in overhauling its compliance framework and addressing legacy issues.
In conjunction with the buyback, the bank revised its capital distribution policy to target a dividend payout of 40% to 60% of IFRS net profit. Julius Baer intends to maintain a common equity tier 1 capital ratio of 15%, noting that its ratio was 18.5% as of mid-2026.
