The Province of Ontario scheduled a series of extensive roadwork closures across four regions between August 12 and 13, 2026, to facilitate planned maintenance and construction.
On August 12, authorities implemented 129 closures across the York and Simcoe regions. Simcoe saw the highest volume with 100 closures impacting Highways 400, 11, 12, 26, 89, and 93 in municipalities including Barrie, Bradford, and Orillia. York Region had 29 closures affecting Highways 400, 404, 427, 48, 7, and 9, with significant nightly lane restrictions in Vaughan and Newmarket.
The maintenance effort continued on August 13 with 57 additional closures in the Halton and Peel regions. Peel experienced 38 closures impacting the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highways 401, 403, 410, 9, and 10, primarily affecting Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon. Halton had 19 closures on the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highways 401 and 403, with work concentrated in Oakville, Milton, and Burlington.
Across all four regions, the closures consisted of a mix of daily, nightly, and continuous lane restrictions.
