Manchester Airport Records Highest Rate of Long Delays in UK

Manchester Airport recorded the highest rate of long delays in the United Kingdom between September 30, 2025, and October 1, 2026. Data from AirAdvisor shows that 7.73% of departures from the airport were delayed by more than 60 minutes, placing it ahead of Birmingham Airport, which ranked second at 7.16%. Bournemouth and Southampton airports also saw high rates of long delays, while Cardiff and London Heathrow recorded the lowest rates at 3.6% and 3.89%, respectively.

Anton Radchenko, CEO of AirAdvisor, stated that flight punctuality at any individual airport is not necessarily an indication of overall reliability. He explained that external factors outside of an airport's control, such as fog and high winds, often lead to disruption.

Passengers affected by these delays may be eligible for compensation under UK261 regulations. Those arriving more than three hours late can claim up to £520, depending on the total flight distance.
