Pakistan and Lebanon Agree to Enhance Security Cooperation

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar led delegation-level talks in Islamabad on September 15, 2026, to strengthen security and intelligence sharing between the two nations. The ministers focused on countering terrorism, dismantling drug networks, and addressing cybercrime, money laundering, and illegal immigration.

Both countries committed to signing a new memorandum of understanding to formalize ties between their interior ministries and agreed to fully implement an existing agreement on counter-narcotics. To ensure better coordination, the two nations will appoint focal persons and are discussing visa-free entry for holders of official and diplomatic passports.

The ministers also explored expanding cooperation between their respective police academies and training programs to share internal security expertise. Naqvi stated he hoped the meeting would open new avenues of cooperation, while Al-Hajjar described Pakistan as a brotherly country of Lebanon.
