Palantir Stock Rises After Legal Win and U.S. Iran Attacks
Palantir Technologies shares surged following a court victory against former employees and increased demand for its AI defense tools during U.S. strikes in Iran.
Shares of Palantir Technologies rose up to 5.8% on Friday, capping a weekly gain of 15%. The stock rally followed a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge J. Paul Oetken, who ordered former employees and the AI start-up Percepta to stop poaching staff and using proprietary company data after finding they likely violated confidentiality agreements.
Investor interest also grew as the United States launched attacks on Iran. Palantir provides critical AI capabilities to military and intelligence agencies, including weapons targeting through its Maven Smart System. While analysts remain positive about the company's government pipeline, the U.S. Department of Defense blacklisted Palantir's partner, Anthropic, citing it as a supply chain risk due to disagreements over domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei announced that the company will challenge the government's risk designation in court.
