EdBridge CEO Urges Critical Thinking Amid AI Reliance
Gwen Mdinaradze warns that generative AI can create a false sense of completion and erode critical thinking among professional knowledge workers.
Gwen Mdinaradze, Founder and CEO of EdBridge, argues that the increasing use of generative AI in professional and educational settings requires a stronger commitment to human sense-making and critical thinking. She warns that the ability of AI to produce polished, convincing documents often creates a false sense of completion, which may lead users to ignore primary human feedback, poorly verify references, or overlook essential context.
Mdinaradze suggests that while AI can accelerate organization and research, human judgment remains necessary to ensure the output is sufficient for a specific organizational context. To counter the risks of over-reliance, she recommends that users question the premises of their prompts and use the time saved by AI to investigate consequential gaps in information.
To support her position, Mdinaradze cites a 2025 study of 319 knowledge workers. The data indicates that higher levels of confidence in generative AI are associated with lower reported levels of critical thinking among those workers.
