United Nations Reports Only 15% of 2030 Goals On Track

The United Nations met in New York in September 2026 to review the progress of global goals established in 2015. Current data reveals that only 15% of the measurable targets, including world peace, clean water, and gender equality, are on track for achievement by 2030. Approximately half of the remaining goals show only marginal progress.

Positive trends emerged in health sectors, specifically through expanded internet and electricity access, increased life expectancy, and reduced child mortality. These gains contrast with a doubling of the refugee population relative to the global population since 2015 and a general rise in hunger.

Experts emphasized that the goals remain achievable but require immediate intervention. Charles Kenny of the Center for Global Development stated that success requires "dramatic policy changes" from participating countries. Other analysts called for increased investment in climate resilience and the creation of institutions capable of managing crises, while Andrew Shepherd of the Institute of Development Studies urged policymakers to better anticipate and respond to emergencies.
