Cockroach Janta Party Protests Electoral Roll Revisions in Bengaluru
The Cockroach Janta Party organized a People's Tribunal in Bengaluru to protest electoral roll revisions before a planned demonstration in Delhi.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) held a People's Tribunal and a 'chappal protest' at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on October 8, 2026. Led by founder Abhijeet Dipke and supported by actor Prakash Raj and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, the event provided a platform for citizens claiming they were negatively affected by the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das described the SIR process as the "theft of votes" and the "hijacking of elections," specifically highlighting the exclusion of Gen Z voters. The party is demanding a freeze on the revision exercise, the restoration of the January 2025 voters' list, an independent inquiry into the SIR, and the repeal of the 2023 law governing Election Commission appointments.
This mobilization follows a previous demonstration at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on October 2. The campaign will move to Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10, where the CJP and student organizations including AISA, AISF, SFI, and ASAP plan to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged discrepancies in the electoral revision process.
