Dubai Launches Two Major Electric Vehicle Charging Expansions
Dubai launched two separate infrastructure projects to expand electric vehicle charging across taxi fleets and community facilities to support green mobility goals.
Dubai has initiated two distinct infrastructure projects to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Dubai Taxi Company inaugurated an ultra-fast charging hub at the latter's headquarters in Muhaisnah 4. This facility features 24 charge points of 360 KW each and serves as the first phase of a broader plan to deploy over 200 ultrafast chargers for the taxi fleet under the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030.
In a separate effort, the Community Development Authority partnered with UAEV – Emarat EV Charging Stations Company to integrate charging infrastructure into community facilities. The first phase has activated stations at Majlis locations in Al Rashidiya, Al Barsha, and Nad Al Sheba. Further rollouts are scheduled through 2027, targeting wedding halls and councils to align with the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategy.
Officials from both initiatives framed the expansions as essential for improving quality of life and resource sustainability. The Community Development Authority intends to use its facilities as platforms to support the transition toward a green economy, while the charging network expansion aims to make EV services more accessible to the general public.
