DCCC Expands Red to Blue Program to 46 House Seats

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added six GOP-held seats to its target list as Democrats eye a House majority in the upcoming midterm elections.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee expanded its Red to Blue program on Monday, adding six Republican-held House seats to its target list. The expansion brings the total number of seats in the program to 46, with new targets in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New York, and Tennessee. The new additions include candidates Chris Jones, Dwayne Romero, Eliott Rodriguez, Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Blake Gendebien, and Justin Pearson.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene stated that these candidates are winning over voters by focusing on lowering costs for health care, housing, gas, and groceries. While the targeted districts were won by Donald Trump by double-digit margins in 2024, DCCC political director Brooke Butler indicated the party is confident it can reach the 218-seat majority, with a potential ceiling of 240 seats.

The National Republican Congressional Committee dismissed the expansion as wishful thinking, citing a financial advantage. Federal Election Commission filings show the NRCC holds $89 million in cash compared to $76 million for the DCCC. However, Democrats currently hold an 8.5 percentage-point lead in the generic congressional ballot. Amid these shifts, the NRCC is reportedly considering withdrawing support from GOP incumbents Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey and Marianette Miller-Meeks in Iowa.
