Germany Detains Turkish Citizens in Poland Starlink Sabotage Case
German authorities detained two Turkish citizens accused of sabotaging a Polish Starlink station under the instructions of Russian intelligence services.
German authorities detained two Turkish citizens in connection with a September fire at a Starlink station in central Poland. The blaze damaged the facility's power system and backup generator, an act that Polish officials characterize as sabotage intended to disrupt internet services for the Ukrainian military.
Tomasz Siemoniak, the Polish Special Services Minister, stated that Russian services orchestrated the attack. He noted that Russian services are increasingly turning to individuals linked to the criminal underworld to conduct hybrid attacks across Europe. Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński announced that the suspects face charges in Poland for carrying out sabotage under the instructions of a foreign intelligence agency.
The Federal Government of Russia has dismissed similar accusations of European sabotage as baseless and the result of "anti-Russian hysteria."
