Israeli Forces Strike Lebanon Despite US-Brokered Withdrawal Deal
Israeli military forces conducted drone, artillery, and airstrikes across Lebanon on October 9, resulting in multiple injuries and ground incursions.
The Israeli military conducted a series of drone, artillery, and airstrikes across Lebanon on October 9, 2026. A drone strike targeting a vehicle in Housh al-Sayyed Ali, Baalbek-Hermel province, injured six people, while a warplane struck the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit. Artillery shelling also hit several locations in southern Lebanon, including Mansouri, Majdal Zoun, and Wadi Zibqin.
In the Nabatieh district, Israeli infantry and a military bulldozer advanced 50 meters from a Lebanese army position in Zawtar al-Gharbiya, where the bulldozer was used to uproot olive trees. These operations continue despite a framework deal brokered by the United States on June 26, which mandates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the subsequent deployment of the Lebanese army in those areas.
According to the Lebanon Health Ministry, the Israeli offensive since March 2 has killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,413 others.
