Roblox Faces Securities Fraud Lawsuits Over Age Verification Rollout

Multiple law firms have filed securities class action lawsuits against Roblox Corporation and its executives, alleging the company committed securities fraud by concealing the adverse effects of its age-verification rollout. The litigation, including the case Mukherjee v. Roblox Corporation, claims the company issued overly optimistic growth projections between October 2024 and April 2026 while hiding that the rollout hindered on-platform communication, reduced app store ratings, and slowed organic user growth.

On April 30, 2026, Roblox released first-quarter results that revealed age-verification adoption had only reached 51% of global daily active users. The company slashed its fiscal 2026 bookings growth guidance from 22-26% down to 8-12%, which triggered a single-day stock price drop of 18.33%, falling from $55.26 to $45.13 on May 1, 2026. This decline erased over $6.7 billion in market capitalization.

Plaintiffs highlight a contrast between the company's internal results and public statements. CEO David Baszucki previously described the rollout as a gold standard, stating he was "very excited and proud of the way our age verification rollout has gone." However, the lawsuits allege that management knew the process caused continued friction and reduced sign-ups.

Separately, Roblox is managing a legal crisis involving child exploitation, including a consolidated effort of over 160 lawsuits alleging the platform's design facilitated grooming. The company has already paid approximately $54 million in settlements to five U.S. states. Eligible investors in the securities cases have until August 7, 2026, to apply for appointment as lead plaintiff.
