Punjab Leaders Demand Inquiry Into AAP Occupation of Government Housing
Sunil Jakhar and Sukhpal Singh Khaira are demanding investigations into allegations that Aam Aadmi Party leaders illegally occupied official residences and circuit houses in Chandigarh.
Opposition leaders in Punjab have raised allegations that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officials and associates have illegally occupied government ministerial residences and the Sector 39 Circuit House in Chandigarh. On September 29, Sunil Jakhar, former Punjab BJP President, staged a protest claiming that Delhi-based AAP leaders exercise administrative control over the state with the backing of national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Jakhar specifically alleged that official files from Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian's department, related to a Rs 10,000-crore GMADA scam, were discovered at a residence occupied by AAP leader Satyendar Jain.
Following these claims, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira requested that Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and the Chandigarh Administrator launch a time-bound independent inquiry. Khaira alleged that several properties intended for Punjab ministers are being used by AAP office bearers without official entitlement. He specifically named Manish Sisodia and Gayatri Bishnoi as unauthorized occupants of residences allotted to the Jail Minister and Health Minister, respectively. Khaira further claimed that AAP teams are occupying 18 rooms at the Circuit House.
Jakhar also accused the Punjab Police of blocking his entry to the Circuit House despite a valid booking. Both leaders have called for the public disclosure of allotment records and the removal of unauthorized occupants to ensure public assets are managed through transparent rules rather than political arrangements.
