The Statistical Institute of Belize reported that the Consumer Confidence Index fell from 42.6% in July to 42.2% in August. This decline indicates growing pessimism among residents regarding their household finances, spending, and savings over the next twelve months.
Data reveals a sharp gender divide in economic outlook. Confidence among male consumers dropped by 7.5%, while confidence among female consumers rose by 5.5% during the same period.
Regional trends varied across the country. Sentiment improved significantly in Stann Creek, where confidence rose from 38.4% to 48.5%. Conversely, the northern districts of Orange Walk and Corozal experienced notable declines in consumer confidence.
