NVIDIA Expands AI Partnerships and Physical AI Ecosystem in Japan

NVIDIA is collaborating with Japanese industries and Toyota to deploy open AI models and physical AI across robotics, smart cities, and manufacturing.

During a visit to Japan, NVIDIA Corporation announced a sweeping expansion of its artificial intelligence ecosystem, focusing on industry-specialized and physical AI to address the nation's aging population and workforce transitions. The company is providing Nemotron open models and libraries to a consortium of Japanese enterprises and research institutions. These include the Institute of Science Tokyo, SB Intuitions, and Stockmark, which are developing Japanese-language foundation and document-understanding models to strengthen national AI capabilities.

NVIDIA also broadened its long-term partnership with Toyota Motor to advance physical AI. This collaboration integrates NVIDIA platforms into Woven City, an experimental prototype community in Shizuoka, and uses the Omniverse platform to create digital twins of vehicle assembly lines for production optimization. This automotive expansion is complemented by the launch of Cosmos 3 Edge, a 4-billion-parameter model for on-device vision reasoning and robot policy deployment.

To further this industrial shift, NVIDIA expanded the NVIDIA Cosmos Coalition to include leaders such as FANUC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Sony Group Corporation. Fujitsu is leading a collaborative effort with Yaskawa Electric and Kawasaki Heavy Industries to build a control platform bridging digital and physical operations. These initiatives extend into diverse sectors, including elder-care robotics via Enactic and autonomous farming through Kubota, as NVIDIA seeks to help Japan reinvent modern manufacturing for the age of intelligent industries.
