Ten Republican candidates competed in a primary election on August 16, 2026, for Florida's 19th Congressional District. The seat became available after Byron Donalds vacated it to run for governor of Florida.

Catalina Lauf, a conservative activist and former Commerce Department official, gained significant momentum and became the likely front-runner after receiving an endorsement from Donald Trump. Lauf is among several candidates who previously ran for office in other states, sparking a divide in the race between candidates with deep local roots and those labeled as carpetbaggers from states including New York, Illinois, California, and Texas.

Local media mogul Jim Schwartzel used this distinction to attack out-of-state opponents, while County Republican Party official Mercedes Price-Harry warned candidates that the local community is protective and very right-wing. Despite these tensions, some voters indicated they prioritize conservative values over a candidate's origin.
