Atiku Abubakar Urges FBI to Release Tinubu Drug Records
Atiku Abubakar called on the FBI to release disclosable records regarding drug trafficking allegations against Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has demanded that the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation release all lawfully disclosable records concerning allegations of drug trafficking against Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
The request follows an August 20 application by the FBI to a U.S. district court in Columbia. In that filing, the agency sought to submit declarations privately to explain why specific records are being withheld, citing potential danger to lives. Abubakar dismissed this justification as ironic, arguing that Nigerians are already dying due to economic hardships following the removal of fuel subsidies by the Tinubu administration.
Abubakar clarified that he is not seeking the exposure of confidential sources or undercover agents. However, he urged the FBI not to use legal protections as a "bulletproof vest" for the president, framing the demand as a humanitarian and democratic appeal for transparency regarding the character of Nigeria's leader.
