R Ashok Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Attacking Constitutional Institutions

Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashok accused Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress of systematically attacking India's constitutional institutions to achieve political goals. During a press conference in Bengaluru on September 27, 2026, Ashok described Gandhi's conduct as undignified and claimed it undermines the Constitution.

Ashok specifically cited Gandhi's skepticism toward the judiciary, the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate, and Electronic Voting Machines. He noted a contradiction in these criticisms, stating that EVM technology was introduced during the tenure of Gandhi's father, Rajiv Gandhi.

Beyond institutional critiques, Ashok accused Gandhi of insulting the Indian armed forces by questioning the validity of the Balakot surgical strikes. He also identified Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and D. K. Shivakumar as individuals participating in attacks against constitutional bodies, including protests against the Election Commission.
