Niger Delta Coalition and Bishops Endorse Tinubu for 2027

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received two major endorsements for his 2027 re-election bid during a series of events in Abuja. A coalition known as the Niger Delta Accredited Supporters for Tinubu 2027, comprising youths, women, and community leaders, inaugurated its movement to mobilize grassroots support for the president and the All Progressives Congress.

National Coordinator Joseph Ebodei and other group leaders cited national security restructuring and oil and gas sector development as primary reasons for their support. The coalition argued that the president should complete a constitutional eight-year tenure to ensure the continuity of national development programs.

Simultaneously, the Charismatic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and the International Communion of Charismatic Archbishops, Bishops and Apostles endorsed the president during a synod at the National Christian Centre. These religious leaders pointed to Tinubu's support for the Christian faith and economic improvements, including GDP growth, as justifications for the move.

The religious endorsement drew criticism from figures such as Primate Elijah Ayodele, who characterized the move as politically motivated. In response, Archbishop Leonard Kawas defended the bishops' involvement in politics, asserting that leadership quality outweighs religious affiliation.
