Trump Inquiry Committee Reschedules Lisa Cook Hearing to December

A special committee appointed by Donald Trump rescheduled a hearing for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to December 14 following a request from her legal counsel.

A special committee of inquiry appointed by Donald Trump has rescheduled a hearing for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from this Thursday to December 14. The hearing, set to take place at the White House, seeks to investigate allegations that Cook made false statements concerning one or more mortgage instruments.

The delay follows a request from Cook's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, who argued that questions regarding the committee and the nature of its investigation must be resolved before the hearing proceeds. Cook has denied any wrongdoing, and it is currently unclear if she will consent to appear in December.

This inquiry follows a failed attempt by Trump to fire Cook in August 2025. The Supreme Court of the United States blocked that termination, ruling that Cook was not provided due process to challenge the dismissal. However, the court did not issue a ruling on whether the president possesses the ultimate authority to fire a member of the Federal Reserve board.
