Canada and Ukraine Launch Airlogix-Sentinel Drone Joint Venture
Canada and Ukraine established the Airlogix-Sentinel joint venture to manufacture advanced reconnaissance drones in Canada for delivery to the Ukrainian military.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Canadian Department of National Defence signed an agreement on May 29, 2026, to launch the joint production of reconnaissance drones in Canada. The deal, signed during the CANSEC defense trade show in Ottawa, establishes a joint venture called Airlogix-Sentinel between the Ukrainian defense-tech company Airlogix and the Hamilton-based Canadian manufacturer Sentinel Research and Development.
David J. McGuinty, Canada's Minister of National Defence, oversaw the signing of the partnership. The initiative follows a letter of intent signed in the fall of 2025 and aligns with a commitment made by Prime Minister Mark Carney in August 2025 to invest in drones and electronic warfare. The venture aims to accelerate the delivery of critical battlefield intelligence tools to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to assist in operational planning.
Beyond immediate military support, the partnership is designed to expand Canada's domestic defense industrial capacity. The arrangement provides Canadian engineers with access to real-world electronic warfare data and supports high-value domestic jobs in critical technology manufacturing.
