House Democrats Plan Extensive Trump Probes After Midterms

House Democrats are preparing a wide-ranging investigative agenda targeting President Donald Trump and his administration if they regain congressional control in the November midterms.

House Democrats are drafting an extensive investigative agenda targeting Donald Trump, his family, and administration officials should they recapture control of one or both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections. The proposed probes would focus on the administration's energy policies, specifically efforts to buy out wind leases, exempt oil drillers from environmental regulations, and reduce the capacity of government agencies.

Representative Robert Garcia, who is positioned to chair the House Oversight Committee under Democratic leadership, intends to subpoena acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to testify about Jeffrey Epstein. Garcia also plans to investigate the Trump family's business dealings, including government contracts and an Emirati state-backed venture fund, alongside potential corruption within the Department of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services vaccine programs.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries supported the agenda, pledging to hold officials accountable starting on day one. Republican House Oversight Chair James Comer dismissed the plans as hypocritical attempts to target the president. Critics have suggested that Trump's management of the economy and campaign conduct may have contributed to the possibility of a Democratic victory.
