Trump Administration Forms DOJ Group to Probe Political Weaponization
The Trump administration established a Department of Justice working group to investigate claims that the previous administration weaponized federal agencies against Donald Trump.
The Trump administration established the Weaponization Working Group within the Department of Justice to argue that the previous administration weaponized the DOJ and FBI against Donald Trump. Led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, the group is targeting former Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is currently under investigation for alleged Hatch Act violations.
As part of this effort, the administration declassified an annex from John Durham's investigation. The document contains a 2016 email suggesting Hillary Clinton approved a plan to link Trump to Russian hackers to distract from her email scandal. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller claims this evidence proves a conspiracy, though the alleged sender of the email denied writing it and Durham concluded the message was likely manufactured.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder characterized the current probe as a weaponization of the federal government. Holder argued the investigation is an attempt to deflect attention from the release of the Epstein files.
