Nigeria Governor Sets 2.5 Million Vote Target for Tinubu
Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration defends a 2.5 million-vote mobilization target for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 Nigerian presidential election.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has established a political mobilization target of 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election. The target has drawn criticism from columnist Sonala Olumhense, who argues the figure is mathematically impossible when compared to 2023 election data.
Chief Press Secretary Dr. Ebojele defended the governor's goal, rejecting the critical analysis. Dr. Ebojele asserted that shifting political alliances and the All Progressives Congress's recent performance indicate strong grassroots support. Specifically, the party won all 18 chairmanship and 192 councillorship seats in the Edo State local government elections held on July 11, 2026.
Separately, U.S. citizen volunteers in Costa Rica are conducting Get Out the Vote campaigns for the November 3, 2026, U.S. mid-term elections. These volunteers are providing technical assistance with ballot registration and submission to overseas citizens in Costa Rica and other international locations.
