Trump Grants Ukraine License to Produce Patriot Interceptors

Donald Trump announced the United States will allow Ukraine to domestically produce Patriot air defense missile interceptors to bolster long-term defenses against Russian missiles.

Donald Trump announced at a NATO summit that the United States will grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot air defense missile interceptors. The technology transfer is designed to strengthen Ukraine's long-term capacity to protect civilian and military infrastructure from Russian cruise and ballistic missiles.

Full production is expected to take at least one year because of specialized infrastructure requirements, such as radar systems and solid rocket motors, and a complex global supply chain. To prevent sensitive technology from leaking to Russia or China, the United States Department of State will determine which specific components are eligible for transfer.

This decision follows a significant depletion of U.S. Patriot stockpiles resulting from their use during the conflict against Iran, referred to as Epic Fury.
