APC Holds Rallies in Ekiti and Ebonyi to Secure 2027 Power
The All Progressives Congress held major rallies in Ekiti and Ebonyi to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji's re-election and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 bid.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted a series of high-profile mobilization efforts across Nigeria to consolidate power ahead of upcoming elections. In Ekiti State, the party held a grand finale mega rally on June 16, 2026, at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado Ekiti. During the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, urged voters to re-elect Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the June 20 governorship election. The rally drew support from diverse figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former PDP Governor Ayodele Fayose, who praised Oyebanji's unifying leadership.
Governor Oyebanji stated that his bid for a second term rests on his performance and the social contract established with voters in 2022. The rally served as the climax of a grassroots campaign intended to demonstrate a broad coalition of support from professional groups and traditional rulers.
Simultaneously, the APC focused on securing its stronghold in Ebonyi State. On June 15, National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Governor Francis Nwifuru held an endorsement rally at the Abakaliki Township Stadium. Party leaders formally backed President Tinubu for a second term in 2027 and asserted that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party would find no foothold in the state. Governor Nwifuru dismissed claims that the state had been conceded to the opposition, reinforcing the party's dominance in the region.
