Xi Jinping Calls for Rigorous Communist Party Self-Governance
Xi Jinping urged the Communist Party of China to strengthen internal self-governance to maintain its role as the leadership core for Chinese socialism.
General Secretary Xi Jinping called for the continuation of full and rigorous self-governance within the Communist Party of China to ensure the organization remains the strong leadership core for advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics. Speaking at a symposium on August 21, Xi stated that governing the country effectively requires the Party to first govern and strengthen itself.
The symposium served to gather opinions from non-Party figures on a resolution regarding Party self-governance. This resolution was later adopted at the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC in Beijing. During these proceedings, Xi emphasized the necessity of resolving internal Party problems, upholding the centralized leadership of the CPC Central Committee, and improving the overall system of self-governance.
Xi also urged other political parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce to maintain multiparty cooperation while upholding the leadership of the CPC. The chairperson of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce attended the symposium and expressed support for the draft resolution.
