Bola Tinubu Appoints Yusuf Bichi to Lead NISS Board
President Bola Tinubu appointed former DSS Director-General Yusuf Bichi as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Security Studies.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Yusuf Bichi as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Abuja. The appointment took effect on October 22, 2026, following a recommendation from the current Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi.
Bichi succeeds A. A. Gadzama for an initial four-year term under the National Institute for Security Studies (Establishment) Act of 2019. He previously served as the Director-General of the DSS until August 2024. Bichi began his security career in 1984 within the Security Division of the Kano State Cabinet Office.
The NISS stated that Bichi brings extensive experience in intelligence, security administration, operational leadership, and institutional training to the governance of the institute.
