Poll Shows Majority of Americans View Trump as Profiting from Presidency
A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump prioritizes his personal financial interests over national needs, according to a new AP-NORC poll.
A new AP-NORC poll indicates that approximately 60% of U.S. adults believe Donald Trump is profiting from the presidency through illegal or unethical means, with 40% specifically citing illegal activity. The survey found that 56% of adults feel the president has placed significant emphasis on his personal businesses since returning to the White House, while only 25% believe he has prioritized the country to the same degree.
These perceptions follow the president's decision to lift a self-imposed ban on overseas private-sector deals and the launch of several cryptocurrency ventures. According to a June federal disclosure, Trump earned over $1 billion from these crypto businesses after loosening industry regulations. This income included a $500 million investment from a United Arab Emirates business tied to the royal family. Additionally, the Trump Organisation struck eight foreign deals during the first year of his second term.
The White House has dismissed these concerns as a "fake problem," asserting that the president has zero conflicts of interest.
