Trump Establishes AI Pact as OpenAI Launches Dots Agents
President Donald Trump established a voluntary AI self-regulation pact while OpenAI unveiled new AI agents and delayed its initial public offering.
Donald Trump hosted a luncheon with technology executives to establish a voluntary self-regulation pact for artificial intelligence. The agreement requires companies to implement internal cybersecurity and biosecurity controls and employ independent auditors to verify safety protocols. Trump described the pact as "morally binding" and signed an executive order rebranding artificial intelligence as "super intelligence," suggesting that under this framework, companies would essentially be "policing each other."
In San Francisco, OpenAI held a developer conference to launch "dots," which are AI agents powered by the GPT-6 Astra model designed to proactively perform tasks for users. The company is reportedly nearing $70 billion in annualized revenue and is in early discussions to raise $30 billion at a $1.4 trillion valuation.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that he wants the company to be a public company someday, but he will delay the IPO until next year. Altman noted that he does not want to put additional pressure on the organization while it undergoes significant change, prioritizing safety and financial stability instead.
