State Department Revokes 250,000 Visas in Immigration Crackdown

The United States Department of State revoked over 250,000 visas for fraud, criminal activity, and national security threats under the Trump administration.

The United States Department of State has revoked more than 250,000 visas since the start of the Donald Trump administration as part of a mass immigration vetting crackdown. The revocations target individuals involved in criminal activity, fraud, abuse of the immigration system, and threats to national security.

Recent actions include the revocation of 2,300 visas linked to birth tourism and the cancellation of visas for 27 Latin American officials and their families from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru following corruption allegations. In August alone, the department revoked over 175,000 visas, primarily citing law enforcement encounters involving assault, drug crimes, and theft.

Administration officials are now preparing to revoke business and tourist visas for up to 200,000 foreigners who applied for asylum. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau characterized many of these as bogus asylum claims, arguing that asylum should not serve as a loophole to circumvent immigration laws.
